Sub Rosa Vintage

Sub Rosa Vintage is a vintage clothing store located in the heart of historic Kensington Market. It was named one of Toronto’s Best Vintage Clothing Stores according to Toronto Life Style Book and mentioned in the NOW Vintage Shopping Guide as a place to score trendsetting vintage.

The store caters to young, stylish individuals and carries a unique array of vintage apparel. The challenge was to create a brand that spoke to the clientele and design and build a website that would tell the story of the brand and offer visitors useful information pertaining to the shop. The client hired a talented fashion photographer to showcase the variety of apparel offered at the store. Since the images promoted the product, the brand and the website had to promote the overall persona. Taking a minimal approach for the brand and website allowed for the images to stand in the forefront.

Branding

The colour palette includes a rosey pink, a dark, almost black grey and a pale grey colour. The rose colour is an ode to the “rose” in Sub Rosa Vintage and supplementary colours are meant to compliment the rose by carrying on the “dusty” feel. The logo is a very minimal and modern sans serif wordmark. It was chosen out of the other logo options for it's ability to be applied to a wide range of collateral. The client has a great social media presence and knew the logo could be incorporated into the campaigns they create to promote the store.
